Prayer of Confession (Responsive)
One: Siblings in Christ, God not only asks us to repent, but also assures us of forgiveness. Therefore let us confess our sins to the one who is steadfast love. All: Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear and what has become a consuming fire of judgment. We have turned from our neighbors and refused to bear the burdens of others. We have passed by the hungry, the vulnerable and the oppressed, ignoring the pain of this world. Set us free from a past we cannot change; open us up to a future in which we can be changed and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image; through Jesus Christ the light of the world. Amen.
